What is diaper rash

Diaper rash is a common skin condition that most babies experience from time to time throughout the diapering years. You can identify diaper rash by red, scaly, or bumpy skin on or around your baby’s genitals.

What causes diaper rash

There are a few common causes of diaper rash. The number one cause is a soiled diaper being left on too long. Another common cause of diaper rash is food sensitivity or allergies to either something in formula or breastmilk. Another cause is an allergy or irritation to specific diapers.

How to get rid of it

We get it; diaper rash is frustrating for everyone! Luckily, there are several different things that you can try in terms of treatment.

1). Try changing your baby’s diaper as much as possible, keeping them dry and clean. This will help to stop diaper rash from worsening.

2.) Allow your baby to air dry before rediapering them. After each diaper change, you can try to pat their genitals with a clean cloth or napkin, then let them dry completely before re- diapering them. In addition to them being dry, fresh air is excellent for healing any rash.

3.) Try diaper creams. There are many different diaper creams on the market today. Diaper cream can be applied at first sight of a new rash and help stop it from progressing and help heal the current inflammation. While there are many on the market, a favorite of ours is WELDA baby diaper cream.

4.) If you have tried the steps above and your baby’s diaper rash doesn’t seem to be improving, it may be time for a pediatrician visit. Different diaper creams and ointments can be prescribed to help combat stubborn diaper rash.
