Bay Area Postpartum Education, an Interview with Ali Glinsky

Bay Area Postpartum Education, an intervew with ali glinsky

As you may have guessed, we are extremely passionate about postpartum care and postpartum education at Bay City Doulas! We know first and second hand just how important, and transformative quality postpartum care is! Today we are lucky to have Ali Glinsky, postpartum educator and mom of two, here to share all about her work as a postpartum educator in the Bay Area. We hope you enjoy this week’s blog, Bay Area postpartum Education, An interview with Ali Glinsky!

Welcome, Ali! Thank you so much for joining us on our blog this week! We are so excited to have you here. Can you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself?

I am happy to be here! Yes, here is some info about me. I am a California girl born and raised. After stints in LA and London I moved back to the bay area where I grew up about 3 years ago.

After the birth of my first daughter in 2016, I was lost. I was not prepared for postpartum and had never been around babies before. Fast forward two years, and I decided to become a new parent educator to make sure no new and expecting parents feel lost!

Why did you become a postpartum educator?

I decided to do this work because I wanted a way to help new and expecting families prepare themselves for the transition of having a new baby. After having postpartum doula myself, I began to see the benefits of support after having a baby, and I wanted to join that movement.

What do you do as a postpartum educator?

I try to connect with moms in the most ways I can. I offer virtual mom groups,  personalized new family coaching, sharing information and research on social media, but mostly connecting moms with each other in a safe and judgement free zone to vent, share, ask questions and so much more in my virtual mom groups.

You clearly have a lot of passion for the work that you do, can you explain where that passion stems from?

My passion stems from understanding the difference proper support can make in enjoying your baby vs. just surviving with a newborn. I understand that there will always be a learning curve when having a baby but being prepared and having a plan can help you SO much. It can really make all the difference. I hope that every mom I work with feels supported, seen, and has their questions answered.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about postpartum before having babies themselves?

I wish we empowered mothers to trust themselves. In this new role, we can doubt our every move, and so much of a postpartum is learning our new roles as a mother, learning our baby, and trusting ourselves and the process.

Who can benefit from your classes?

Anyone who is pregnant or expecting a baby in their home. I also offer virtual mom groups for second-time moms, so really a mom at any stage!

Where can we learn more about you and what you do/ offer?

I am very active on Instagram and share a lot information and content there @parentsirl. I also will be

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Moms: You are doing great. This is the hardest and most rewarding work and you are doing great!
